Yin Yoga and Yoga Nidra Sunday February 21st

Patty Seidensticker will begin the afternoon with a Yin Yoga practice. Yin Yoga is described as a system of long-held poses that are similar to but not exactly like restorative postures. This very slow moving practice will allow us to open up our bodies while being inwardly focused, silent, and motionless. By doing these poses in this manner, we reach our deep connective tissues and bones below the muscles which help us release restrictions in movement. We also put pressure on our meridian lines and organs to release blocked energy or chi and this brings new vitality and life breath to these areas.

Betsy Anderson will then begin to move us slowly into a yang practice of strength and grounding poses to release any tension remaining in the body and move the energy or chi we have created before we lay down to experience the Yoga Nidra part of our afternoon.

Yoga Nidra means Yogic Sleep, which is a waking state of deep meditation, that gently focuses the mind, allowing thought patterns, emotions, sensations, and images to arise and pass through our bodies and minds. It brings incredible calmness, quietness, and clarity. It is one of the deepest of all meditations, leading awareness through many levels of mental process and to a state of supreme stillness and insight. Betsy will read to you softly and gently the words of Yoga Nidra which will put you in this awakened, yet sleep like state.

Joy Yackley will share her gift of sound with us during our yoga practice and play the gong and crystal bowls to help us feel the vibration of healing as we open our bodies and minds to new energies.
